You may have heard the term dry herb vaporizers and wondered what that may be. Or maybe you already had a pre-conceived notion for what they are and want to verify that you’re right. It’s easy to be confused, because the term vaporizers, often used when describing evapor products, is so similar to dry herb vaporizers. But make no mistake; these probably aren’t what you are looking for if you are looking to make the switch to ecigs with one of our favorite brands. That’s not to say that they don’t serve their purpose, far from it.
In commonly used terms, dry herb vaporizers are strong associated with marijuana. There was already a growing demand for these types of vaporizers that could heat marijuana and release a vapor, without burning it. It’s similar to the “heat not burn” concept that is also making its way into the cigarette alternatives market. But it has really taken off ever since marijuana became legal in several states, like Colorado and Washington. Marijuana users are much more out in the open, and so those looking for accessories for smoking pot are too.
This, of course, is in addition to the huge medical marijuana market. Here dry herb vaporizers are especially useful because they make it easier for those with medical conditions to ingest their medicine. Beyond the use of dry herb vaporizers in marijuana, they can be used for any kind of dry plant matter. That’s how vape pens are often advertised, as a way to heat your tobacco to the point where you get vapor, but before you get smoke. But is this the way for traditional tobacco smokers to make the switch away from smoking or does it only offer an incomplete answer?
Dry Herb Vaporizers Not For Everyone
That’s a question that isn’t easy to answer, and it has a lot to do with what you think about electronic cigarettes, not just dry herb vaporizers. While the small vaporizers do offer promise, you have to be very careful about the one you purchase. There are a lot of poorly made devices that will end up burning your tobacco instead of just making vapor.
We all know how bad tobacco is for you when it is burned, so taking a chance that you’ll burn your tobacco makes the risk strikingly similar to traditional tobacco cigarettes.
If you do get one of the quality dry herb vaporizers, such as the Pax 2 vaporizer, which we think is the best one out there, it can provide a great option. We’re still inclined to encourage new users to look into electronic cigarettes first, however. Ecigs take away any chance from burning tobacco because, well, there is no tobacco at all! The advantage of vaping eliquid is that you aren’t deal with plant matter and all the negatives that can come with that. Instead, you just have a composite of water, flavorings, propylene glycol and often some amount of liquid nicotine.
The advantages of electronic cigarettes over traditional smoking are numerous, such as the fact that vaping has no smell and can save you thousands of dollars per year. It’s also easier to get going with ecigs on a whole compared to dry herb vaporizers, especially when choosing a cigalike. Cigalikes are made to be easy to use and very low maintenance, so they’re a good choice for first-time users. A lot of people do “graduate” to tank type systems where they can refill their own eliquid, but it is easier to make the switch initially with a cigalike.
Dry herb vaporizers can be good for tobacco smokers that for whatever reason don’t like the idea of ecigs or just haven’t found the right one that works for them. They aren’t a bad option, but they also aren’t for everyone. For now, the stigma around these portal vaporizers is that they’re mainly for marijuana use, with some people that actually put tobacco in them. For those looking to make the switch away from traditional tobacco cigarettes, ecigs are still the top choice and with good reason.
