After the success of the Crown, ECCR readers asked us for a Uwell Rafale review. The new features of the Rafale subohm tank are very impressive including its ability to manage 120 watts of power. The dual parallel coil design enables the Rafale to manage high power devices and produce massive, dense vapor. It has a large 5 ml capacity and an innovative, patented top fill design.
The patented top fill design is something new and unique. Most top-fills operate with a top that rotates away exposing the juice ports. The Uwell Rafale top fill is different. The drip tip is not removable, rather it is constructed as part of the Rafale tank itself. The drip tip does rotate and this is how you open the top-fill juice port. By turning the drip tip, you open access to the tank from the top.
There are two holes on the top of the Uwell Rafale that are typically sealed. When you twist the drip tip, the holes on the top of the tank open allowing you to add ejuice from the top. This is a lot different from the Crown and pretty much every other top-fill vape tank. One thing I learned doing the Uwell Rafale review is that you have to make sure that the airflow control is sealed when you add ejuice otherwise it can leak out.
Like the Crown, the Uwell Rafale can also be filled from the bottom port. As I found from my experience researching for the Uwell Rafale review, filling from the bottom seems to be the better choice. The top fill does seem to sometimes cause a leak from the airflow ports. I would use thetop fill to top up occasionally but no for the first fill after installing a new coil.
Differences Between Uwell Rafale And Crown
So the top-fill port is a major difference from the Uwell Crown as compared to the Uwell Rafale and there are other differences as well. The Rafale is bigger at 23 mm wide and 65 mm high. It does have a larger ejuice capacity at 5 ml. I like the larger size and although it is a subjective aspect of the Uwell Rafale review, if you like larger tanks and vape gear you are probably going to like the Rafale subohm vape tank.
The airflow ports of the Rafale are huge. Like seriously huge! There are two airflow holes are 13.3 mm by 3.3 mm. There are 4 airflow settings that click into place on the Rafale. The bottom line with these massive airflow ports is that this is awesome for cloud chasers. The direct lung hits will be breezy and the vapor will be massive. Especially when vaping at high temps and high wattages that the Rafale is capable of.
The fixed drip tip comes with a drip-tip sleeve. That is different! The sleeve is useful for protection against heat when vaping at high power settings. For the Uwell Rafale review, I did find that the sleeve is useful when vaping at over 100 watts but when vaping at more standard temperatures I found it better to remove the sleeve.
The larger coil heads are also different than the Crown. These are some big coils! Nice idea from Uwell. There is no RBA deck so you will be using pre-made coils but the great news is that these coils are beautiful. The dual parallel coils wicked with organic Japanese cotton are vapor beasts. The Rafale comes with a 0.2 ohm and 0.5 ohm stainless steel coils.
The last difference that I want to mention for the Uwell Rafale review is the newly designed ASB system. This stands for anti-spitback system and it will catch spitback that often happens when vaping at high temperatures. How did it work? Well, it worked okay. There is still some spitback but considering the capabilities of the Rafale it does make a difference for cloud chasers who love pushing their mods and vaping to the hairy edges.
Uwell Rafale Review
What we really want to know from our Uwell Rafale review is should you buy it? That’s really the long and the short of it! It’s fun to talk about all the new vape gear when it comes out but this is your hard earned cash we are talking about. I take that very seriously. Yes, I have a link that will take you to a website where you can buy the Rafale and if you do buy it, we get a small commission. That’s what keeps the website up and running.
We do send you to the best online source where you always get authentic products, which is a very big deal in this day and age of clones, and Direct vapor also has a best price guarantee. They always give free delivery and they have a warranty structure that they honor even for imported products. So I feel pretty good about directing you to Direct Vapor because they are the best place for you to buy vape products.
With all of that said, let’s get back to the question of whether or not you should buy the Uwell Rafale sub ohm vape tank. The answer is yes, but it is not for everyone. The Rafale is designed for cloud chasers and people who enjoy breezy lung hits when vaping. It does not have the best flavor and it can get hot.
So if you have a 50 Watt mod, the Rafale is not the tank for you. If you have a dual 18650 mod, that is a 100 to 200 watt mod, like the Sigelei 213 or IPV5 and you like more vapor, then you will probably want to add the Uwell Rafale to your vape gear. When vaping at high temperatures, you also notice that the higher you go, the more the flavor pops.
As much as the flavor does show up at higher temperatures, it is not a flavorful vape like you get from the Sigelei Moonshot RTA tank. We do have a few tips to follow to get the best possible performance out of the Rafale subohm tank. You will need to be at 60 watts or higher to get the vapor output that you want. At 120 watts, the drip tip sleeve can be very helpful because the Rafale does get hot. Make sure you always prime the coils because these are high performance coils and you don’t want to burn them out!
Ultimately, the Uwell Rafale is for vapers who want massive vapor and huge airflow. It is not for vaping for beginners. The beauty of the Rafale is that this vape tank is designed for high performance and can take 120 watts. This is going to appeal to a large segment of the vaping community and we feel like the Rafale is going to be very successful for Uwell.
