Welsh e Cig Study Can’t Find One Vaper Who Wasn’t A Smoker

Public Health England recently completed perhaps the most comprehensive e cig study analysis to date. The results of that study were completely conclusive. Vaping is at the very least 95% safer than smoking. The reports of e cig vapor being as bad as cigarette smoke have been debunked and shown to be the result of manipulated studies and a mainstream media with a morbid thirst for scary headlines.

One of the fabrications that vaping critics and their media stooges love to spread is the idea that vaping leads to smoking. Universities in California and Pennsylvania have both conducted e cig study surveys of young people. Both surveys resulted in cross-country headlines that vaping was leading teens to smoking. Neither survey actually showed that but the data was manipulated in such a way as to make the deliberate allusion.

In one study of 700 young people between 16 and 26 years old, surveyors found 11 people who had used an e cig prior to trying a cigarette. Of that number, 5 became smokers. These numbers did not take into account any addition smoking risk factors such as having parents who smoke. Based on the most superficial data imaginable, the headlines screamed about vaping leading to cigarette smoking.

Manipulated studies and surveys have proven to be a critical ally to the anti-vaping agenda. The thought is that the more negative PR that can be heaped on electronic cigarettes the more severe and oppressive vaping laws can be. Who benefits from a negative e cig study? If the general public does not recognize vaping to be a viable, less harmful alternative to smoking then smokers will be more likely to risk the side effects of Big Pharma smoking cessation pills or just keep smoking. Big Tobacco and Big Pharma both benefit from the war on e cigs.

e cig Study: Vaping In Wales

e cig study 2015While Public Health England is advising smokers to quit smoking and start vaping, there are still areas of the UK that have a more regressive approach. The nation of Wales in the south west of Great Britain is a nation of 3 million people.

Wales is a beautiful country with coastal areas that will make your jaw drop. Once an industrial powerhouse, the Welsh economy has diversified into a post-industrial model of success.

By the way, Wales is home to some of the best rugby talent on the planet.

Welsh Health Minister Mark Drakeford is an opponent of vaping. In an effort to generate support for a ban on e cigarettes, the Welsh Labor party assigned the Health Ministry the task of conducting an e cig study 2015 survey to show that vaping leads to smoking. These folks must have been reading the headlines from the USA. They actually cited the USA study the 700 young people as part of their reason for seeking a ban.

What they should have been doing was reading ECCR because we broke down those studies and showed how the data was manipulated and, furthermore, showed that vaping does not lead to smoking. We took that e cigarette study of 700 16 to 26 year olds apart and showed plain as day that it was hooey. If the Welsh government had listened to people who actually know, we could have saved them a lot of money!

Nonetheless, the Welsh Health Survey went forward and 3,565 people were surveyed. The “experts” wanted to know how many people used e cigarettes before smoking. They really wanted to find a big number. Sometimes, the reality has a way of biting “experts”.

Of the thousands surveyed in this e cig study, they could not find one regular e cig user who was previously a non-smoker. Kirsty Williams, Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, said “If Labor’s (Welsh Labor Party) claims that e cigarettes were a gateway to tobacco were correct, we should be seeing people who have never smoked a cigarette before using e-cigs now. In fact, the opposite is true, Labor’s survey couldn’t find a single e-cigarette user who’s never smoked a cigarette before.

“Welsh Labour Ministers must be pretty embarrassed that their own report is undermining their own argument for a vaping ban.

“It’s about time they listened to the evidence, and the thousands of people who have supported the Welsh Lib Dems’ campaign against their proposed ban, and scrapped these illiberal and illogical proposals.”

Kirsty Williams has hit the nail right on the head. One thing that this e cig study does do is support what the vaping community has been saying all along, vaping does not lead to smoking. The end.
